Outreach is hugely important to All Saints. We are a vital part of the community – both in our immediate parish and further afield – and as such, are committed to initiating and joining in with activities and projects that seek to transform our community.
Engagement in the needs of society underpins who we are as a church. In these uncertain times, we are committed to supporting those in need and connecting with others – regardless of faith, nationality, gender or class – making them aware of All Saints as a church and how we can work together to combat loneliness and isolation, support the more vulnerable members of our society and create a happy and fulfilled social environment.
The Church & Community Group spearheads this role at All Saints, both for our church community and to forge links and collaborative ways of working with local businesses, schools, welfare organisations, healthcare professionals and residents. Our aim is to combat loneliness and social isolation and to promote All Saints as a welcoming, inclusive, Christian Community within the heart of the neighbourhood.
We regularly hold events within church for the community, and get involved with existing events run by the local community.
A few examples of our community outreach:
Friends Together – our monthly dementia friendly Café runs throughout the year on the first Thursday of every month, and is open to everyone, but particularly those suffering with dementia, their carers, friends and family. Click here for more information.
Walks for Everyone – guided walks on The Downs and other interesting areas of Bristol, on the first Saturday morning of every month - plus special Boxing Day and Easter Bank Holiday Monday walks. Suitable for everyone and all are welcome.
Support Groups – working in partnership with health and social care professionals, community bodies and other local churches, we host and run support groups concerned with a variety of issues such as promoting good mental health and the integration of health and social care.
Local Business Partner Network – promoting collaborative ways of working and connections with fellow businesses.
Clifton Down Community Association – working closely with our local community association to maintain awareness of and involvement in important community issues.
ASC Food Point - with church open all day and every day, anyone who's in need can help themselves to donated foot and useful household items from the Food Point crate in the entrance to church.
